La Joconde Cakes is a couture cake design studio located in Portland, Oregon, specializing in gorgeous handcrafted cakes for all occasions. As an architect-turned-pastry chef, Jutta Bach’s passion is to design and produce exquisite cakes that taste delicious and leave sweet memories long after they are consumed.

Jutta started La Joconde Cakes in 2006, naming her cake design studio after one of her favorite French desserts – Joconde: a decorative, artistic, French sponge cake that can be imprinted with colorful designs and patterns during the baking process. “La Joconde” is also the French name for Da Vinci’s famous painting, The Mona Lisa.

Jutta began her career as a professional architect, but eventually decided to pursue her love and passion for food and attended the Le Cordon Bleu Pâtisserie and Baking Program at Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon. For Jutta, there was a natural transition from designing sky scraping buildings to creating masterfully detailed cake towers.

Please fill out this form to schedule a consultation/tasting appointment. Don’t forget to include wedding date, venue/location of your reception and guest count. If you have any other questions you are welcome to email Jutta at or call/text 503-481-4539. We might not answer the phone right away (our hands are often covered with cake batter), so please leave a voice mail, and we will get back to you ASAP. Thanks!
